Valpolicella Ripasso "Il Bugiardo", Buglioni - 2020

The Ripasso is a special method from the beautiful Valpolicella region (Veneto). The wine is made from native grapes, hand-harvested and left to re-ferment on the Amarone pomace before pressing, gaining body, structure, and fruit intensity. The result is a full-bodied red, with well-structured tannins and intense, enveloping fruit. On the nose, there are hints of violet and cherry—not surprising, as there are many cherry trees in the area, and winemakers jokingly say the grapes “pick up” those aromas! Elegantly round and full-bodied. It has well-present tannins: I recommend opening it at least 10–15 minutes before serving, so that oxygen can bring out all the aromas. As you taste it, the wine improves, rounds out, and becomes softer and more enveloping. Excellent value for the price!
