Brachetto, Braida - 2022

Item # 35436 375 mL

Brachetto was the quintessential apéritivo wine in Italy decades ago and still holds true today in NY. Easily the type of wine that works well before or after dinner and works wonders alongside a chocolate mousse. Drink chilled either way. Pale ruby in color, nicely sweet and redolent of raspberries dusted with powdered sugar. Lightly sparkling too.

Staff Pick Notes

Brachetto, Braida

Are you looking for something different to liven up your holiday season or just your average Tuesday? Maybe something a little sweet, with amazing aromas, and some bubbles to boot? Look no further than Brachetto d’Acqui, a wine and DOCG from Italy’s northwestern Piedmont region. This wine made from the Brachetto grape is a red frizzante (semi-sparkling) that is a touch sweet with a delightful aromatic bouquet of strawberries, raspberries, and rose petals. It is made in the charmat (tank) method which allows the bubbles to form and preserves the light fruity aromas. This is a wine that’s soft, charming, and not too serious. I love it on its own as an aperitif, or with a holiday pie, tart, or just a bowl of strawberries! It’s beautiful bright color, low ABV, and the half bottle size make it an easy addition to liven up any moment.

The red Freisa is vinified in a variety of styles:...
