Glenglassaugh Revival Single Malt Scotch

750 mL
Item # 36356

A solid re-introduction to this brand after way too long of a gap. But thankfully Revival and the other whiskies to come here are worth the wait. Aged in a combination of first fill and re-fill casks before being finished for six months in first fill oloroso sherry casks. The telltale fruit of these whisky is there in spades eventually giving way to more earth driven flavors of rich malt and delicate oak.

Staff Pick Notes

You talk to anyone who’s been around the block a few times and they’ll eventually say, “Ahh, the good ol’ days…” So it is with whisky. Older drinkers often long for the drams of yesteryear. While I don’t know if the old days were indeed better, I do admit I miss more nuanced whiskies that seem less prevalent today. This whisky is medium-bodied, refreshing, and subtle. Notes of spiced malt, oranges, almonds, milk chocolate, honeyed fruits, and oily walnuts. Glenglassaugh (pronounced Glen-gla-ssoch) distillery was revived in 2008, and with it, a style of whisky I think we all need to remember.

Scotland

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper.
