Jean-Baptiste de la Quintinye, the 'Botanist to the Sun King,' is the namesake for La Quintinye Royal Vermouth. Born in Charente in 1624, he was a visionary gardener and botanist with whom Louis XIV entrusted the vegetable and flower gardens at the Palace of Versailles. Centuries later, oenologist and master distiller Jean-Sebastien Robicquet founded La Quintinye. The rouge vermouth is made from 28 botanicals and spices. It is an accessible yet exciting addition to any bar - smooth yet not heavy or viscous, with a gorgeous flavor profile starting with red plums and liquorice that moves towards caramel and baking spices. The finish lingers on the palate with notes of vanilla and a hint of bitter cherry. Great on the rocks or to give cocktails like negronis an air of royalty.
