Pinot Gris is a pink skinned grape and when the juice is fermented on the grape skins, it shows this beautiful copper, rose color in the glass. Notes of grapefruit, papaya and white peach with tea-like tannins. This a delicious orange wine.

Production Methods

Practicing Organic

Wine made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides in the vineyard.

Orange Wine (Skin Contact)

Orange wine is made by using white wine grapes, which are pressed and left in contact with the skins, seeds, and stems for an extended period of time, similar to how red wine is made.

This prolonged maceration extracts color, tannins, and phenols, giving the wine a darker, sometimes orange color. It also produces a wine with more structure and intense flavor.

Maceration times can vary between a few hours to many months, with longer contact giving more color and extraction.

Staff Pick Notes

What a wine. Sonoma grown, hand farmed, and masterfully crafted. Five days of grape skin contact fermentation give this Pinot Gris a gorgeous copper color, and wow does it go down easy. Dry and endlessly refreshing, it’s a ramato-style wine with notes of Blood orange, apricot, and a pinch of white pepper. Everything Two Shepherds Winery makes is natural and delicious. But this bottle stands out the most to me. Bright acidity, a luscious mouthfeel, addictive drinkability... I literally can't ask for anything more. I bought two bottles the day I first tasted it, and with warm weather finally around the corner, I might need to pick up a couple more. If you can't make it to the Russian River Valley in person, this wine will take you there. Enjoy!

More About This Wine

California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.

Pinot Gris

Pinot Grigio is an Italian synonym for the French Pinot Gris variety, but many more people have had Pinot Grigio than a Pinot Gris. At its most basic level, the grape produces varietals that are smooth and easy to drink, and perfect with a huge range of dishes that just beg to be paired with a fresh white wine. There is an entire spectrum of Pinot Gris/Grigio, however, the best of them being subtly aromatic and deeply colored, with formidable structures. Most of Italy's Pinot Grigio is grown in...
