The Unique is this great bottlers singular take on a blended whisky. Taking both unmalted and malted whiskies from Scotland as its base, the spirits are aged and co-mingled to a seamless harmony in the famous cavernous cellars deep in the earth under Beaune in Burgundy.
This great blended Scotch whisky is made by a Belgian gentleman in Burgundy, France! That could be confusing, but the result is incredible. Michel Couvreur was a perfectionist and every product he created is made with the greatest care. Unfortunately Michel passed away in 2013, but he was able to pass all his secrets and qualities on to his son in law and one of his best workers and friends. The whiskies are matured in sherry casks in a cellar that Michael created himself. The water used come partly from Scotland. Both malted and unmalted barley are used. It's a smooth drink with slight salinity and delicate almond vanilla. The sherry cask aging gives the perfect roundness. If you are in the mood to try a different kind of blended whisky, you should give it a try!
