Aslina, Cabernet Sauvignon - 2021

Item # 40679 750 mL

Winemaker Ntsiki Biyela has an incredible history as the first female black winemaker in South Africa. Her new label, Aslina, is named in honor of her grandmother. Her Cabernet is a delight on the palate and works well at the table as it's fresh and structured all at once.

Staff Pick Notes

This is hands down the only Cabernet under $30 that I will be grabbing on a regular basis. This wine wonderfully balances fresh fruit notes with balanced structure that is not over powering. Here we aren't talking dark, brooding Cabernet that has been beat over the head with oak. For Aslina we have red and black fruit notes dancing on the palate with balanced acidity and velvety tannin. While this is definitely full bodied it does not blow out your palate. Not only is the wine impressive, the back story for winemaker Ntiski Biyela is even more impressive. Becoming the first Black Female Winemaker in 2004 with Stellekaya wines and starting her own wine brand under her grandmothers name Aslina, she is hands down one of South Africa's most iconic winemakers.

Today, Cabernet Sauvignon has a...
