Staff Pick Notes

In the Itata region of Southern Chile, Leonardo Erazo has set up A Los Viñateros Bravos with very old vines that lie on steep sloped landscapes. These vines particularly sit on these prominently volcanic and granitic soils that provide excellent nutrients for these 100-year-old grapes and Erazo chooses to express that high quality through minimal intervention in the winemaking. This blanco is a blend of primarily Moscatel, supported by Semillon. Erazo only uses natural yeasts and cement tanks for fermenting and aging. This wine gleams with a vibrancy and energy all its own, aromas of fresh nectarine, juicy peach, orange blossom, with flavors of saline sea breezes and crunchy golden apple and citrus fruit that carry over a hefty granite minerality from its soils.
