This excellent 19th Century distillery is coming into a new era of popularity in its third century of production. With its famed water source that runs with traces of gold, the Pitllie Burn, and its famous sweet honeyed character, Aberfeldy epitomizes the Highland style giving creating whiskies with weight, depth and great capacity for graceful long term aging. This 16yr spent most of its time in ex-Bourbon American Oak casks before being finished in European Oak ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. Notes include the tell-tale clover honey, and baking spices, mixed with more nuanced notes of poached orchard fruits and fresh baked pastries.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper.
