The Kalecik Karasi red grape is well-known in Turkey and more new to us in New York. It's believed to have taken its name from the town of Kalecik in the province of Ankara. This is a medium-bodied red wine that's unoaked. The vineyard is located in the northeast of Ankara at an altitude of 2100 feet allowing for ideal temperature swings throughout the day. The Vinkara winery will forever champion the indigenous grapes of the region.
