Forthave Yellow Génépi Liqueur

Item # 42708 750mL

The coming together of different worlds forged by an alchemy that is guided by a respect for nature, intention and patience meets its expression in Yellow by Forthave. Based on a natural wine of 100% Seyval Blanc made for the distillery by their frequent collaborators and New York Natural Wine virtuouosos Barbichette, three separate infusions are made with rare white génépi flowers from a single grower in the Savoie alpine region of France, before all is blended together. The wine base, separate infusions and deft blending make for a liqueur that is less harsh, less bitter, more approachable and easily enjoyed on ice, with a splash of sparkling water or mixed up. An annual release that is always slightly different than the previous ones, this is the 2023 edition.

Staff Pick Notes

Step aside Suze and Salers, there is a new Génépi in town! This expression began as a collaboration with Patrick Vaughn and Zack Klug of the 'Liten Buffel' winery in Niagara, New York. The wine making style at 'Leten Buffel' is decidedly minimalists, leaning towards natural, which makes them the ideal partner in this unique take on a classic wine based liqueur. The floral component is lively thanks to the genepi flowers grown in the French Alps. Subtle notes of chamomile and mint linger throughout the sip. Aided by the smallest amount of organic sugarcane, the texture is perfectly weighted to maximize the flavor experience. A perfect compliment to the classic White Negroni, but with just a little seltzer this Génépi is a perfect low alcohol afternoon refresher.

New York

New York winemakers have embraced international varieties and hit the ground running. The Hudson River Valley is home to the oldest vineyards in New York State.
