Production Methods

Wine made from organically or biodynamically grown grapes with minimal intervention avoiding the use of chemicals, additives and technology.

Tasting Notes

A luscious red wine made from 20 to 80 year old Mencía grapes planted in both granite and slate soils. The vines come from two zones, Ribeiras do Miño and Amandi. The fruit is meticulously harvested, destemmed and then fermented with native yeasts in chestnut foudres. Aged in tank and large, used oak casks.

Staff Pick Notes

A beautifully floral, punchy, and medium-bodied wine from the wet and mild climate of Ribeira Sacra. The region is known for elegant red wines made from Mencía and they consistently deliver. These are a must for anyone who enjoys red wines with less body and more nuance. The Extranxheiro Tinto is made from fruit coming from cool weather vineyard 'A Cova' as well as the sunnier 'Amandi' on the other side of the Sil river. Aromas are a tropical bouquet of hibiscus, rose, and eucalyptus. The palate is plush with crunchy berries and notes of wet gravel. A wine like this accommodates an array of flavors. It was a perfect match with Asturian pollo casero.

The river exerts its cooling influence on the vines (mostly Mencía), which cling to their spots on terraced vineyards cut steeply up the riverbanks. Vines must struggle for...
