Staff Pick Notes

A beautifully floral, punchy, and medium-bodied wine from the wet and mild climate of Ribeira Sacra. The region is known for elegant red wines made from Mencía and they consistently deliver. These are a must for anyone who enjoys red wines with less body and more nuance. The Extranxheiro Tinto is made from fruit coming from cool weather vineyard 'A Cova' as well as the sunnier 'Amandi' on the other side of the Sil river. Aromas are a tropical bouquet of hibiscus, rose, and eucalyptus. The palate is plush with crunchy berries and notes of wet gravel. A wine like this accommodates an array of flavors. It was a perfect match with Asturian pollo casero.

Vines must struggle for nutrients here, and this gives concentration to the fruit. The red wines of Ribeira Sacra are...
