Staff Pick Notes

It is said that adversity builds character, that it shapes us into who we are. Nathalie Gaubicher from Le Briseau has had more than her share of difficulties. In 2012 her partner and cofounder Christian Chaussard died in a tragic accident. Since then she has bravely carried on, making extraordinary wines. This exquisite Chenin comes from 80-year-old vines in Jasnieres, a tiny northern Loire appellation at the very edge of where winemaking is possible. Beautiful aromas of citrus, honey, and lime blossom lead to flavors of pear, green apple, honey, wet stone, and lime. It's taut yet rich and minerally, wine of distinguished character.
