The crystalline purity of this wine is the reason I love Riesling from the Saar region of Germany. I am a big fan of spicy food, and when I need a wine to balance out the spice of Thai chilies or the numbing sensation of Sichuan peppercorns and also enhancing the flavors of the dish, this is the wine I reach for. While technically off-dry, the wine’s intense minerality harmonizes perfectly with the fruit to create a masterpiece of vigor and refinement. The pedigree of the fruit in this bottle will show itself immediately without showing off. This wine demonstrates complete confidence in itself without being arrogant, a rarity in today’s world.
