The 2021 release of this annual favorite is comprised of the classic heavy peated spirit from Laphroaig, this time aged in ex-Pedro Ximenez Sherry Casks and bottled as always at a natural cask strength of 58.9%abv. The whisky is brooding with a spicy nose that flirts with notes of camphor and an oily and expansive palate that really draws out some spectacular sherry flavors in a bold marriage of spirit and oak. Very limited availability.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper.
