This southern Italian red is bold and comes from the estate's oldest vines. The fruit was hand-harvested and then aged in old barrels for 8 months before bottling. It has a spice to it but in such a complex and delicious and mind-blowingly fruited fashion. If you like your red wine to be rich, give this a try alongside a ragu.

Aglianico

Brought to Italy by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C., Aglianico enjoyed an early heyday in the ancient world as one of the key components of Falernum, a wine revered by kings and poets. After nearly being wiped out by Phylloxera in the 19th century, the grape is now experiencing a great revival in southern Italy.
