Pianora Natural Aperitivo Liqueur

Item # 46341 500 mL

Without question one of the most impressive things you will taste that you didn't know you were looking for. Made from an organic red wine base that lends structure and depth but also allows this to be naturally colored and unfortified, the blend of dried natural herbs and fruits exclusively from their own orchards, including rare heirloom cherries are absolutely irresistible. Their is an amazing tension on the nose between the bitter and sweeter elements that come together on the palate seamlessly. Perfect on its own, sipped slowly, or in all sorts of cocktails and spritzes. There is no added alcohol, ready-made essences, chemical additives, artificial colorings, caramel or burnt sugar.

Staff Pick Notes

Working at Astor has exposed me to all sorts of new and fascinating products. One of those products is the Pianora Erborista Apertivo. This apertivo is an absolutely gorgeous liqueur that shows fresh cherry, chamomile, violets, and savory herbs with a pleasant, underlying bitterness. Pianora has vineyards that sit on the steep, south facing slopes of the Montorfano hill on the southern border with Franciacorta. The wine base is a red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Schiava, and Carmenere giving it its natural hue. Pianora refrains from the usage of burnt sugar and caramel to color and sweeten, while elderflowers, linden leaves, and fruit are used instead. Having two hectares of land, 0.5 hectare is used for the orchards and farm where they source their fruits and herbs used as botanicals. Production is limited to once a year.
