Tasting Notes

Part of a growing wave of producers re-thinking this category and breathing fresh life into it with stunning natural expressions like this showstopper from Pianora. The domaine and winery are based just outside Brescia in northern Italy and the organic red wines are the base for this vermouth. The sweetness is balanced and natural simply achieved from the wines and the additions of botanicals including sandalwood, chincona, elderflower, gentian, wormwood and more are slowly and methodically added to achieve a seamless harmony. You'll want some of this on hand at all times. Great to sip with a slight chill and savour or try in minimal top shelf drinks.

Staff Pick Notes

Anytime a new vermouth hits the shelf, an electric buzz zips through our sales staff here. It's a category that offers intrigue and enjoyment in equal measure, and with no exaggeration this is one of the most exciting new bottles to hit our shelves. Made from organic Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Montorfano, near the region of Franciacorta in northern Italy, it's infused with local botanicals. This is as natural as it gets: no added alcohol, chemical additives, artificial colorings, caramel or burnt sugar. What you get is a fresh, vibrant sip of dried cherry, blackberry, anise, bitter orange, and herbal notes, offering a slight bitter note to offset the sweetness. Fantastic on its own, but would shine in cocktails.
