Day Trip Strawberry Amaro by Matchbook Distilling Co.

Item # 46633 750 mL

There aren't enough adjectives to describe how excited we are about this amaro. As with everything else at Matchbook, it is part experimental, part mad scientist, part brilliant execution and the results are glorious. Another example of how this peerless distiller is pushing the envelope for what's possible in our drinks culture. Made from 2 tons of local strawberries that were partially made into wine and partially distilled into strawberry eau de vie with the addition of nettles, quassia, jasmine, rose and nutmeg fruit. Safe trip everyone :)

Staff Pick Notes

If you haven't been to the Mattituck Strawberry Festival in mid-June, then you haven't lived. However, If you can't make the day trip, you can sure taste every bit of it in this wonderful elixir from Matchbook Distillers in Greenport. Fresh Mattituck strawberries are made into wine then distilled into a strawberry eau-de-vie. The eau-de-vie is then blended back into the strawberry wine and infused with nettle, quassia, jasmine, rose, and nutmeg fruit. Lightly bitter and best with soda or in a cocktail: "A Festival View" 1 1/2 oz. Day Trip Strawberry Amaro 1/2 oz. C. Comoz Vermouth Blanc 1 oz. Fresh lime Juice 3/4 oz. Simple Syrup Cucumber, Muddled Top with Soda water in a Highball Glass

Bordeaux varietals are at home in Long Island’s maritime climate. The Finger Lakes harbors a burgeoning winemaking community where many natural-inclined producers focus on dry still wines. No longer is our fair state synonymous with Concord grapes and Manischewitz; look for brilliant iterations of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Cabernet Franc,...
