Grolleau Noir, "Baliverne", Deboutbertin

Grolleau Noir, "Baliverne", Deboutbertin - 2019

Item # 47389 750mL

Made by the duo which gives the winery its portmanteau as well as a horse named Anathol, this Parisian couple sought out a quiet life making wine with as little intervention as possible. Old vine Grolleau planted in the '50's, on schist and sandstone soil, is plowed by Anathol alone. A very natural and respectful wine that seeks to hightlight this specific place. Pair this dry red with rillettes and plenty of crusty bread.

There’s a lot to remember when it comes to the Loire. Novices, take note: Cabernet Franc is a great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscadet is unparalleled as a companion to shellfish, and Cour Cheverny is the best white wine appellation you’ve never heard of. As diverse as Loire wines are, one day soon you'll know your Melon de Bourgogne from your Romorantin.
