With nearly 150yrs of distilling history already behind them, this Islay stalwart still flies under the radar next to its big peat, smoky neighbors. But as more and more limited, old, special bottlings like this trickle out, it is clear they are (and have been) producing some of the most outstanding whisky in all of Scotland, consistently.
Using only spirit distilled in 1988, the whiskies aged until 2016 before they were decanted into Marsala Wine Casks from Sicily and finished for an additional 6yrs prior to being bottled at a natural cask strength. Very limited release.
