Elephant Handcrafted German Sloe Gin

Item # 48391 750mL

Aside from being a spirit for a good cause, this may also be the best sloe gin you've tasted and a superb liqueur on its own that should be used more freely than simply when something calls for a sloe. To create it, the team her created a unique base gin centered on apples and indigenous African botanicals that was then macerated with hand selected sloe berries before they were finally pressed off. The cloudy nature is due to the fact that they wanted to retain maximum freshness and maximum flavor. Not something to be scared of, but thankful. Yum.

Staff Pick Notes

This was the first sloe gin I ever tasted and it set the bar very high. Sloe, AKA blackthorn, is a small, round, inky purple berry similar to a cherry with a distinct tartness that is the perfect compliment to juniper. Maceration with these berries lends a fresh bitter-sweet profile to the base gin made with apples and African botanicals. You'll notice that this gin is cloudy and unfiltered--bursting with ripe pulpy flavor--just don't expect it to be particularly sweet. Perfect sipped on the rocks on its own on a hot summer day or embellished with club soda and lemon juice in a sloe gin fizz.
