Sometimes known as Rousette, sometimes as Maconnais, and some other times as Altesse Vert, Altesse is a white grape variety growing mostly in the Savoie region of eastern France (bordering Switzerland). The grape is thought to have originated in Cyprus and brought to Savoie in the Middle Ages. Altesse typically yields wines that are full in body with spicy aromatics.
