Despite how historic the region is, it is surprisingly very difficult to get your hands on really old, really high quality Calvados. A combination of the post war history and the tendency to bottle and sell young brandy among many producers, has left a growing gap across generations. Thankfully some thriving historic producers like this 7th generation domaine continue these traditions, and when you get to taste apple brandy like this aged nearly 30yrs, you'll instantly recognize it as one of the best values in all of spirits.
As you'd expect at this age the color of the brandy is a dark burnished copper and the aromas and flavors are explosive with notes of cardamom cake, chocolate-raspberry madeleines, espresso beans, candied ginger and warming spices. A masterpiece. Very limited.
