Favorita is a local, white grape variety that thrives in the north of Italy. This comes from the Roero zone from vines planted at 250 m above sea level on sandy and calcareous soils. Aged in tank, on the lees, for 4 months before bottling. Crisp with a fresh bouquet of citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Excellent with fish and shellfish dishes.

It’s always a pleasant surprise when you stumble upon a wine that happens to be more familiar than meets the eye. Favorita is genetically identical to another beloved Italian grape: Vermentino! Favorita possesses that refreshing mineral-driven character found in Vermentino, while expressing notes of ripe peaches, nectarines, and yellow plums on the palate, with acacia blossoms and honey on the nose. The grapes for this wine are grown in the hilly Roero region of Piedmont. And the wine is aged on its lees for four months, which contributes to a richer mouthfeel overall. If you’re hoping to buy a mineral-driven wine with solid fruit flavor on the palate, then I would definitely recommend this off-the-beaten path wine from Ciabot Berton.
