Mars Astor Select Y.A. Komagatake Single Cask Single Malt Japanese Whisky - 2019

This marks our first, of many to come, Astor Select single casks from the mythical high altitude Komagatake Distillery tucked into the snow covered and pristine forests of the Japanese Alps. However it is the second in a pair of single malt casks from Mars, that we selected in Japan, that have aged on at their sub-tropical aging cellars in the even more remote and equally mythical southern island of Yakushima. What you get is the best of both worlds - the deeply refined, elegant and nuanced layers of a classic Komagatake single malt with the rounded, densely textured and concentrated exotic flavor profiles that only Yakushima Aging can deliver. Simply put - there is nothing else quite like this whisky, and it is magnificent. Distilled in April of 2019 and aged in a single American White Oak cask until it was bottled at a natural cask strength in August of 2024. The special label for this limited one-off release was created in collaboration with Mars and depicts a detail of the snow covered alps taken from a 19th Century Japanese painting masterpiece.
