Atanasio Artisanal Blanco Tequila

For years the tequila market has been dominated by big names like Patron or Jose Cuervo. They have their place, but if you care even a smidge about what you're drinking, family-run, artisanal producers are where it's at. The Landeros brothers, sons of agave farmers, founders of Atanasio distillery are making some of the purest expressions of agave in Jalisco. Lead by patriarch and Maestro Tequilero Francisco “Chico” Jimenez, Atanasio is lowland tequila at its best. Roasted agave and herbal aroma are followed by fresh lime and wet stone on the palate with a peppery finish. It's richness make it a great tequila to sip neat, but the brightness lends itself to cocktails. (For a Margarita: 2 oz tequila, 1 oz lime juice, .5 oz triple sec, .5 oz simple syrup, shake and serve on the rocks with salt.)
