Dieugrand Marcellus Clairin St. Michel de l'Attalaye

Lately it's been a little tricky to import goods from Haiti. Thankfully a handful of labels of one of my favorite beverages, Clairins from St Michel, are continuing to make their way here. Dieugrand Marcellus’ Clairin is a godsend. Born and raised in St Michel de l'Attalaye, he's been working as a distiller since youth and is a true product of the near sacred tradition of Haitian Clairin. He works with local growers to ferment and distill 100% blue crystaline cane. All work is done by hand without additives. The rum is packed with flavors of ripe bananas, juicy fruit gum, minerals, and a yogurt-like lactic taste. The texture is slick and dense. It is great sipped neat or with a squeeze of lime and ice. Keep it simple.
