This dry white was whole bunch pressed, and fermented in 500L French oak barrels, and a 5,100L foudre. Aged for 11 months in the lees, with 20% of the oak being new, and 18% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. Aromas of orchard fruits, sweet spice, caramel, and citrus, with a long and round finish. Pair with bobotie.

An interesting find from our South African selection here at Astor. Glenelly Estate was founded in 2003 by May de Lencquesaing, former owner of Second Growth Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Bordeaux. The winery has crafted a highly balanced Chardonnay that will appeal to those who are looking for an elegant style of oaked Chardonnay. Notes of melon, peach, nectarine, green apple, and lemon are all accounted for and do a spectacular job making this one feel special to drink. This is a wine for consumers who enjoy wet-stone minerality, a refreshing level of acidity, round texture, and just the right amount of vanilla flavor on the finish. It's also worth noting that the 2022 vintage sits at 12.5% ABV, so it will appeal to those looking for flavor, but a lighter wine overall than some heavier versions from California.
