Jean Grosperrin Astor Select #78-85 Heritage Borderies Cognac

A deeply touching expression that is the blend of two generations discovered in two single casks. The 1978 cask was distilled by the father and the 1985 by his son, both of whom have since passed. Blended into a single cask expression here with most of the cognac taken by the angel's share due the many decades of aging in the family's very dry cellar - known as a work of art to others friends in the trade. Borderies itself it the smallest cru in all of cognac and in some ways the most elusive making it highly prized when found bottled on its own. Adding to the scarcity it the fact that this expression yielding only 17 very precious liters never to be recreated. Bottled exclusively for us after tasting it in the cellars in cognac at a powerful natural strength and absolutely zero additives. Notes include the tell-tale lavender of Borderies, summer plums, dark cocoa and a master class worth of spice box on the long finish. The vineyard itself was the family's secret garden and in their time they chose not to sell their own production again adding another almost unthinkable level of rarity to this very special spirit.
