What if I told you that some of the finest Nebbiolo in Italy is found outside of Piedmont. Would you believe me? All doubt will be removed once you try a bottle from ARPEPE. Located in the Alps, this is mountain Nebbiolo at its finest. Supremely aromatic, elegant, yet full of life and personality, Nebbiolo from Valtellina is known locally as Chiavennasca. The vineyards are terraced and quite steep. The soil is rocky and the growing season is very long. All of this works together to produce Nebbiolo that explodes with unique character and a distinctive rocky minerality. It is incredibly laborious to work these vineyards, but the reward is in the bottle. ARPEPE sets the standard for this region, and for traditional Nebbiolo in general.
