Tasting Notes

From one of the masters of traditional Italian liqueurs, for Alta Verde, Cappelletti uses assenzio wormwood as its bitter base and surrounds it with a bouqet of herbaceous and fresh citrus focused botanicals lending this amaro both complexity while keeping it from becoming heavy or astringent. Definitely one that should be worked into the rotation of great bitters out there.

Staff Pick Notes

This amaro is not for the faint of heart. That's the first thing you should know about it. If your tastes are similar to mine and intense bitterness is high on your list, then you'll totally dig Amaro Alta Verde. Seemingly benign on the nose with just a hint of lightly herbal sweetness, the game totally changes once this lands on your palate. Refreshingly minty followed by a blast of radicchio-like bitterness, this won't let you forget about it for a while. If you want to talk about a digestivo with a lengthy finish, this is an ideal example.
