Staff Pick Notes

Always love me a Columbia Valley Cabernet. While Washington State may be associated with rainy and cloudy days, the region to the east of the Cascade Mountains sees low humidity and 300 days of sunshine! The region is pretty far North and the nights can get pretty cold, but the days are nice and warm, which keeps the sugars and acidity in their trademark bold wines in a harmonious balance. Owen Roe purchases grapes from area growers, vinifies, cellars, and bottles the wine. Then he shares profits with the growers per the traditional namesake practice of Sharecropping. Their Cabernet is delicious: rich, balanced, structured, and replete with luscious black fruit, vanilla, tobacco, and soft tannins. A very food friendly wine, it was spot on with a bacon cheeseburger. Easy and delightful.
