Staff Pick Notes

La Palazzetta is a family-run winery comprising 18 hectares in the southeast of the Montalcino DOC appellation. I see this wine as an artisanal Brunello di Montalcino. Indeed, Flavio Fanti, the man behind La Palazzetta, ensures that his wines are a pure representation of the place where they grow. Flavio uses large Slovenian and French oak that gently caresses the fruit without taking advantage of it. This Brunello di Montalcino shows the full potential of the Sangiovese grape, putting the delicate fruits of the grape in the first wave, and keeping the tannin and acidity in a second smoother wave. A Brunello that inspires exploration.
