Quinta do Infantado, Vintage Port - 2017

750 mL
Item # 22586

The Vintage Ports of Quinta do Infantado are singularly distinctive in their “meio-seco” (medium-dry) style. The Roseira family is very careful when declaring a vintage year and will not do so if there is the least doubt about the concentration and quality of the vintage.

Staff Pick Notes

As with books, sometimes labels can be deceiving. Don't let the simplicity of this bottle fool you. A serious wine resides inside. Quinta do Infantado began in the early 1800s but has been run by Roseira family has been since the end of the 19th century. Early on they sold off their stock to the big players, but in the 1970s decided to go it alone and are one of the few small, family run labels -- think grower-producer Champagne. All of their ports are superb, but their 2017 vintage port is a standout. Made from old vines, this is deeply concentrated with beautiful dark fruit, black cherry, blackberries, chocolate and spice. Be sure to decant. Pair with a roaring fire and a dog curled up at your feet.

They also show their terroir quite clearly, and represent a great alternative to the modern fruit-driven style. Vinho Verde is Portugal’s most famous white wine. Literally translated as "green wine," it...
