Tasting Notes

Dark in color this red has a stunning perfume of cherries and ripe raspberries with a floral nuance. It’s brimming with cherry, berry fruit with a floral, spice tinge. Rounded and elegant, it finishes with a nice crispness. This terrific young Beaujolais is one to enjoy now.

Staff Pick Notes

Domaine du Clos du Fief is a fourth generation vineyard in Julienas, one of the most famous area for Gamay grape growing. Sylvain, after studying viticulture and working in Australia in the Hunter Valley, joined his father Michele Tete in 2015.The vines are 45 years old and produce beautiful fruit. This is a classic beautiful Beaujolais with the typical flavors and qualities of Gamay: on the nose you can taste cherry and spices. On the palate you can enjoy raspberries and hearty notes. Fresh and lively it can be enjoyed now but it can evolve in the bottle a little longer. I would pair it with creamy, soft cheeses, such as goat cheese or Camembert!

Beaujolais-Villages is a step up. Compared to basic Beaujolais, the rules for Beaujolais-Villages wines are more strict. Villages wine is produced in far smaller quantities. Beaujolais Nouveau is perhaps the most gulpable wine...
