750 mL
Item # 28120

The Würzgarten vineyard is beyond steep, mostly red-colored iron slate and unlike any other site in the Mosel region. Great depth, exotic and spicy aromas on the palate. Pair with spicy Thai curry.

Staff Pick Notes

You gotta love Mosel as you can enjoy wines from Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) vineyards and not pay an arm and a leg. Dr Loosen sources fruit from the impossibly steep Ürziger Würzgarten vineyard. The soils here are an anomaly for Mosel as they are based on iron rich volcanic sandstone rather than slate. The iron gives the soil a red color and imparts spice notes to the wine. The wine shows pale gold color and a dense viscosity. Aromas of honeysuckle blossoms and ripe melons show. Like great Rieslings, the fruit is simultaneously citrus, orchard, and tropical. It is a Spatlese, so expect a bit of sweetness. Trust me, this wine will Loosen you up!
