Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva "A Marianna", Praesidium - 2019

750 mL
Item # 28220

Praesidium is a 7 hectare estate in the Peligna Valley - the birthplace of the Montepulciano grape. White and black peppercorn open to a rich palate of dark fruits. Share over a fine meal of handmade pasta in a sugo-based sauce. This Riserva comes from older Montepulciano vines that grow in calcareous, silty clay, rich in sandstone. The grapes macerated on their skins 15 days and the wine aged 2 years in stainless steel (to preserve freshness) then 2 years in 10 -20 hectoliter Slavonian oak. (10% stayed in 3 pass French barrique).

Over hills exposed to the East, the winery’s sunkissed vines grow at about 300 meters above sea level. The...

Abruzzi

Situated on the eastern calf of the Italian boot, Abruzzi is one of the most prolific wine-growing regions in Italy. Montepulciano d'Abruzzi is produced in the region of Abruzzi from the Montepulciano grape, and is not to be confused with Tuscany’s Sangiovese-based Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Many of the modern incarnations of Abruzzi’s favorite red wine are bigger, more structured,...
