Today, the four hectare estate of the late Gigi Bianco is run by his wife and daughter and is located in the picturesque, medieval town of Barbaresco.The vineyards are composed of an old seabed with shells, along with clay and chalk. This combination is ideal for growing the Nebbiolo grape and adds minerality to the delicate floral fruit. Intense with bright ruby red fruit and a silky texture.

The Gigi Bianco Estate has been producing great wines in the village of Barbaresco for nearly two centuries. It is currently run by its 5th generation winemaker Susanna Bianco. She's maintained the philosophy that care of the vineyard is the best way to make great wines. This shows brilliantly in her Langhe Nebbiolo. The wine shows off the nobility of the Nebbiolo grape. Restrained, structured, not showy. It exudes a harmonious balance. Flavors and aromas of red berries, violets, plums and a hint of smoke are showing with subtlety. Dusty tannins have become perfectly integrated with years in the bottle. Try with Castelmagno cheese.

Piedmont

The most famous grape in Piedmont is the noble Nebbiolo, which makes the long-lived Barolo and Barbaresco. There are plenty of Nebbiolo-based wines that are quite enjoyable in their youth, however, often produced in smaller, lesser-known regions such as Ghemme or Gattinara.
