I'm a lover not a fighter! An ode to the "romance of winemaking" in the Casablanca Valley, the Refugio Pinot Noir is full of vibrant fruit and plenty of surprising, earthy complexity. Photographer turned winemaker, Julio Donoso, found his creative match with Alsatian winemaker, Andre Ostertag, establishing the micro-winery back in 2005. Built on the mission of preserving and highlighting the natural features of the land, this Pinot doesn't shy away from being juicy and expressive of its terroir. I love the extra body from an unfiltered Pinot Noir, especially when it's full of raspberry jam and fresh blueberry notes like this one. All the brambly fruit finds balance through notes of forest floor, dried thyme and sage, and rose and violet petals. Throw a chill on this bottle and let yourself fall in love with a new natty red! yummmm..
