Antica Torino Amaro della Sacra

Item # 40643 750mL

A traditional rendition of the ancient elixirs of Italy, cultivated, created and documented by the monks of old monastaries. With a focus on authenticity this amaro brings together separate infusions of herbs, spices, roots, barks, resins, seeds and flowers. The spirit is generous in its fortitude but not overly bitter allowing you to dive deeper into the rich complexity offered here whether enjoyed on its own or in a drink.

Staff Pick Notes

I always ask Amaro neophytes "How much bitterness do you like?" This helps to gauge their expectations since some of these digestivi can have more acerbic bite than one may anticipate. Antica Torino is great for newcomers to the category, especially fans of cardamom. This particular version boasts the aromatic spice from attack to finish, along with sweet cinnamon, myrrh and vanilla. Soft and warming, it's a great introduction to what the world of amari offers. There are many ways to enjoy selections from this category, whether neat, on the rocks, or as a cocktail component. In winter, I'd say try this is an amaro caldo, essentially the Italian version of a hot toddy. In warmer months serve with a citrus twist and a splash of soda.
