Sometimes you just have to think outside the box with wine and food pairings. Let's start with the grape in this case. Most people associate Gamay with Beaujolais or perhaps the Loire. The Rhône conjures images of brooding Syrah or bold, spicy blends. The Coteaux du Lyonnais region lies between Beaujolais and the Rhône Valley. The climate leans toward Mediterranean, but Gamay still grows successfully here. What about serving or food pairings? I drank this wine with a thorough chill alongside an avocado-topped tuna tartar. The cooler temperature showcased the tart fruit of the wine & coupled well with the peppercorns studding the tartar. Cold red wine? And Seafood? Yes indeed!
