Carpenè Malvolti is the oldest family-run Italian sparkling winery and was founded in 1868 by the illustrious Antonio Carpenè - a scientist, chemist and researcher. His goal was to make Treviso sparkling wine and today Carpene Malvoti remains the historic estate that is now in its fifth generation. This estate was the first estate to ever make sparkling Prosecco as it was formerly a still wine only.
Every time one of my friends uncorks a bottle of Carpenè Malvolti, they send me a photo (sometimes even a video)! That's because it's my favorite Prosecco ever. Each sip transports me back to the best moments shared with friends and family. From the majestic hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage site, this wonderful elixir seduces us with aromas of pear, peach, white flowers, and green apple. Makes a good match with Mediterranean dishes, seafood, salty cheeses, sausages, and fruits. Try it with a sweet and savory appetizer like prosciutto-wrapped dates. I also love drinking it on its own or eating it with the Brazilian dessert Romeo & Juliet! Delicious!
Until recently, "Prosecco" could refer either to a wine or to a white grape. In 2009, however, the grape was renamed "Glera" in a bid to protect Prosecco's good name. Prosecco is usually a sparkling wine made by the Charmat method, though still versions do exist. Because it is so easy to drink, with or without food, Prosecco is a hugely popular choice for parties.
