Rully Blanc "Montagne La Folie" Claudie Jobard - 2018

Item # 44272 750mL

A white Burgundy from the village of Rully in the southern part of the region. The fruit was hand-harvested and then fermented and aged in French oak. Fuller-bodied on the palate with great fruit and freshness. A great match for soft and aged cheeses.

Staff Pick Notes

The beauty of white Burgundy is how it can perfectly balance the richness of oak with the pure, mineral expression of Burgundy terroir. It would just take one glass of this Rully to convince anyone of that. While she is the daughter of the longtime oenologist at Joseph Drouin and her family has a long history farming in Rully, Claudie makes her wines solo, essentially out of her home using a mix of estate-grown and purchased fruit. The Montagne La Folie (a single vineyard in conversion organic farming) is a fuller-bodied style that in all honesty reminds me of Meursault at half the price, showing off honeyed aromas of hazelnut, citrus zest, stonefruit, and wood spice with a fantastic beam of flint and saline on the lingering finish. It will go beautifully with fish terrine, rabbit cooked in white wine, or chicken with a rich cream sauce.

It is a flexible, eager-to-please grape, responding well to just about anything a winemaker...
