Aglianico from exceptional ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines between 150-200 years old, this is a special dry red indeed. Declassified Taurasi, this spends less time in used oak, and is a fresher, yet dark-fruited, structured wine nonetheless. Pair with carne alla pizzaiola.

Aglianico

Brought to Italy by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C., Aglianico enjoyed an early heyday in the ancient world as one of the key components of Falernum, a wine revered by kings and poets. After nearly being wiped out by Phylloxera in the 19th century, the grape is now experiencing a great revival in southern Italy.
