Viticulture has been a part of Pella's history since antiquity. Winemaker Thomas Ligas preserves this storied past by crafting wines from indigenous varieties. 40 year-old Xinomavro spends 50 days on the skins, and 18 months in barriques. This dry red is lighter-bodied and colored, with medium tannic structure. Pair this with lamb kleftiko.

Glossary

Xynomavro

Pronounced "ksee NO ma vro", this is one of Greece’s most important red varietals. The primary grape of Naoussa, this grape produces wines of extraordinary depth and complexity. Frequently likened to Nebbiolo, these wines are dark and tannic in their youth, and benefit immensely from ageing. Typical aromas are black olive, cooking spices, earth, and black fruit.
