Orange Wine (Skin Contact)

Orange wine is made by using white wine grapes, which are pressed and left in contact with the skins, seeds, and stems for an extended period of time, similar to how red wine is made.

This prolonged maceration extracts color, tannins, and phenols, giving the wine a darker, sometimes orange color. It also produces a wine with more structure and intense flavor.

Maceration times can vary between a few hours to many months, with longer contact giving more color and extraction.

Mersel makes super accessible, easy-to-love natural wines in the mountains of Lebanon. They are committed to sustainability and to supporting local vineyard growers. Their vines are farmed organically and vinification is low intervention. The Lebnani Abyad (translated as Lebanese White) is one of those glou wines that necessitates the little-extra-of-a-liter bottle. It’s a blend of indigenous Merwah (70%) and Sauvignon blanc. The wines were vinified separately and both see 2-3 weeks of skin contact. You’ll love the aromas of fresh peaches, lychee, and flowers. The palate sings of juicy plums with a moderate backbone of acidity. It’s simply a fun, refreshing thirst quencher. Enjoy with Meze.
