Ever since Steve McCarthy set down roots here in 1985, this little pocket of Oregon has been one of the country's leading craft distillers. McCarthy himself was considered the Godfather of American Single Malt, and this release of a rare batch that is drawn from ever older stocks is proof of why. Made with his signature imported peated Scottish Barley the whiskey is redolent with notes of summer apricots, rhubarb pie, mulberries, spicy tobacco, mocha and of course that peaty smoke. Remarkable stuff.
