Item # 48749 750mL

From 50 year-old vines grown on clay and gravel, this old vine red is light in body and color. Bright red fruit, fresh herbs, and a mineral component round out with dynamic dry wine. The grapes are de-stemmed, and the wine ages in foudre. Pair with Bresse chicken and mushrooms.

Staff Pick Notes

Domaine Rolet began with Désiré Rolet’s vision in 1942 to craft pure, mineral-driven wines from the cool, mountainous region in France known as the Jura. In 1958, his four children took over for their father, and developed quite a following for their wines over the next several decades. Poulsard is a very thin-skinned grape, and produces wines that are pale in color yet strikingly aromatic, with a curious combination of red fruit flavors intertwined with damp earth and hibiscus notes. Domaine Rolet is today run by three families with a deep love for the Jura, and the vineyards have been fully converted to organic farming. Acquiring old vine parcels over 50 years in age helps bring more depth and character to these elegant wines as well. This is a true representation of Poulsard and a great value to both learn from and enjoy!
