Ribeira Sacra White, O Estranxeiro - 2021

Item # 50224 750mL

A mineral-driven white wine made mostly of Godello. This comes from the dramatic slopes of the Ribeira Sacra where tiny plots of local grapes cling to the terrain. The fruit is hand-picked, fermented with native yeasts in tank. Aromas of lemongrass, quince and chamomile on the palate. A white you could pair with cod fritters or sushi.

Ribeira Sacra

Though this DO was only created in 1996, wine has been produced along the “sacred banks” of the Sil River in Galicia ever since the Romans came to town, bringing with them the knowledge that terraces make the best vineyards. It also plays an important role in northern Portugal (where it is known as Alvarinho) as a component of Vinho Verde. The thick-skinned grapes thrive in the cool, windy climates of Galicia and northern Portgual, yielding intensely aromatic wines with typical aromas of almonds, white flowers, and stone fruits; the best examples...
